Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, December 16, 2019
Page 20
Mayor Bodnar stated, thank you Council President. I have enjoyed saying that over the past 4
years. Having you right next to me working shoulder to shoulder and going from colleague to
friend.
Council President Saponaro stated, likewise.
Mayor Bodnar stated, thank you. I have right now the distinct pleasure of honoring two of our
longstanding Council Representatives who have served Mayfield Village with pride and
dedication for many years. What that also means is that I have the sad task of bidding you
farewell and truly that's not easy. I have enjoyed working with both of you these past four years
and I will miss you both.
Presentation of Proclamation of Appreciation to Ward 3 Council Member Dr.
Stephan Parker
WHEREAS, Dr. Stephan Parker was elected to Mayfield Village Council as its Ward 3 Council
Representative and began his first term in January 1996, serving five additional terms over the
next 23 years; and
WHEREAS, during his years on Council, Stephan Parker served on a variety of Commissions,
Committees and Boards, with a special interest in enhancing the recreational programming
offered by Mayfield Village. For many years, he championed the addition of outdoor tennis
courts in the Village and, this year, realized that goal; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, Stephan Parker has supported a variety of community projects
and initiatives, most notably, the SOM Center Road Widening Project, the retention and growth
of Progressive Insurance, the development of the Parkview recreational complex, and the
building of the new Police Station, the new Library, and the new Community Room. He
participated in the development of the Greenway Trail, The Grove Amphitheatre, the First
Responders Memorial, and countless other infrastructure improvement projects completed over
the last three decades; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Parker has regularly expressed pride in the Village's ability to provide
services that are "second to none" and maintain its character and charm while entering the 21s'
century; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Parker's service as a Mayfield Village Council Representative should not
go unnoticed without an expression of sincere appreciation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar, on behalf of
Council, Department Heads, staff, and the residents of Mayfield Village, am pleased to thank Dr.
Stephan Parker for 23 years of service to Mayfield Village. We congratulate him on his long
tenure on Council, we hope that he has more time to spend with his children Rachel, David and
Sarah, and we look forward to seeing him play some tennis on those new courts!
