Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, December 16, 2019 <br />Page 22 <br />Presentation of Proclamation of Appreciation to At -Large Council Member and <br />Council President Joseph M. Saponaro <br />WHEREAS, Joseph M. Saponaro served on Mayfield Village Council with dedication from 2004 to <br />2011 and again from 2014 through 2019 as an At -Large Council Representative and, for the past four <br />years, as Council President; and <br />WHEREAS, during his years on Council, Joseph Saponaro has served on a variety of Commissions, <br />Committees and Boards, with a special interest in economic development and supporting the Village's <br />business base to ensure fiscal responsibility and maintain the Village's ability to provide the level of <br />excellent service that residents have come to know and expect. Joe also dedicated substantial time to <br />coordinating volunteers to help beautify Mayfield Village though cleanup and landscape enhancements; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure, Joseph Saponaro supported a variety of community projects and <br />initiatives, most notably, the building of the new Police Station, the new Library, and the new Community <br />Room. He participated in the development of the Greenway Trail, The Grove Amphitheatre, the First <br />Responders Memorial, and countless other infrastructure improvement projects completed over the last <br />two decades; and <br />WHEREAS, Joseph Saponaro was an extremely effective Council President, doing his best to engage <br />residents and Council in constructive discourse and ensuring that meetings were conducted cordially and <br />expeditiously. No one knows Roberts Rules of Order better than Joseph Saponaro and his efforts should <br />not go unnoticed without an expression of appreciation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar, on behalf of <br />Council, Department Heads, staff, and the residents of Mayfield Village, am honored to express <br />our gratitude to Joseph M. Saponaro for his years of dedicated service to Mayfield Village and <br />for his leadership serving as our Council President. We know that Joe looks forward to spending <br />more time with his lovely wife Monica and sons Joey, Christian and Matt, but we hope that he <br />will continue to be engaged and participate in Mayfield Village governance. <br />Mayor Bodnar stated, thank you Joe. <br />Council President Saponaro stated, thank you. <br />Council President Saponaro asked, are there any other matters that may come before Council at <br />this point? <br />There were none. <br />Council President Saponaro stated, for the last time for me, I will entertain a motion to adjourn. <br />
