RESOLUTION NO. 2020-28 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bodnar <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING MAYFIELD VILLAGE TO PROVIDE A LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR <br />THE FY2020 U.S. FOREST SERVICE GREAT LAKES RESTORATION INITIATIVE <br />APPLICATION AND AUTHORIZING MAYFIELD VILLAGE TO EXPEND FUNDS IN <br />AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $14,722 FOR THE REFORESTATION OF RIPARIAN <br />HABITAT ON VILLAGE PROPERTY <br />WHEREAS, the Chagrin River Watershed Partners (CRWP) is submitting an application <br />for the F.Y. 2020 U.S. Forest Service Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Program on behalf of the <br />Central Lake Erie Basin Collaborative for planting trees to reduce runoff in Ohio's Central Lake <br />Erie Basin; and <br />WHEREAS, the application proposes to reduce runoff through targeting plantings in <br />central Lake Erie basin watersheds, which includes the reforestation of 3.25 acres of riparian <br />habitat at Village -owned property near Bonnieview Road and Beech Hill Road; and <br />WHEREAS, it is Mayfield Village's express desire to support this application for the <br />program and commit to working with CRWP to coordinate the plantings by contributing 20% of <br />the total budget for this project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council deems it necessary and in the best interest to the health safety and <br />welfare of all Mayfield Village residents to support the application and obligate the necessary <br />funds required for participation in the program. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Council of Mayfield Village finds and determines that it is in the best <br />interest on the Village to support the Chagrin River Watershed Partners in submitting an <br />application for the F.Y. 2020 U.S. Forest Service Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Program on <br />behalf of the Central Lake Erie Basin Collaborative for planting trees to reduce runoff in Ohio's <br />Central Lake Erie Basin. <br />SECTION 2. The Council of Mayfield Village hereby approves and authorizes an <br />expenditure not to exceed $14,722, which is 20% of the total budget, for the reforestation of 3.25 <br />acres of riparian habitat at Village -owned property near Bonnieview Road and Beech Hill Road. <br />
