CPR was quickly administered as well as use of the AED installed at the facility; and WHEREAS, Mayfield Village Fire Lieutenant Jason Brothers was off duty and at the scene that day. He participated in providing exceptional service in this emergency situation and has previously received a commendation for his role; and WHEREAS, by the time the Mayfield Village emergency crew comprised of Tim Byrne, Reed Ruthenberg, Kyle Schreiber, Ryan Fowler, and Tim Cicero arrived to provide stabilization and transport to the hospital, Michael Beers was defibrillated and was alert and speaking; and WHEREAS, the individuals that assisted in early recognition of the medical emergency and who responded quickly to deal with the situation, deserve recognition for the parts they played in saving Mr. Beers' life, including: • Coach Steve Schneed & Coach Keith Koprowski, who are both credited with early recognition of the situation and requesting immediate assistance from Lt. Brothers; 0 Coach Nicole Cicconetti Smith, credited with immediate retrieval of the AED and CPR pocket mask and applying the AED along with Coach Kyle Eshleman; • Coach Kyle Eshleman, credited with monitoring the patient's pulse and applying the AED; • Dana Lautenschleger, an off-duty Hillcrest Hospital ICU nurse who assisted by applying chest compressions throughout the incident; and • Theresa Stark and Jamie Grano, who assisted the patient's son who was on scene and drove him to Hillcrest Hospital so he could meet his father there. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar, on this 19'h day of July, 2021, on behalf of Mayfield Village Council, commend Steve Schneed, Keith Koprowski, Nicole Cicconetti Smith, Kyle Eshleman, Dana Lautenschleger, Theresa Stark and Jamie Grano for recognizing and assisting with the emergency situation that arose at Crooked River CrossFit on March 27, 2021. Your training, quick actions, and compassion, all crucial to the positive outcome of this life-threatening event, are noted and appreciated by all of us. Council President Schutt stated, thank you Chief Carcioppolo and Mayor Bodnar. Mr. Beers, I am glad everything worked out for you. You were in very good hands. Thank you to our EMS and Fire as well as the employees at Crooked River CrossFit for acting in a very quick manner and professionally and taking care of Mr. Beers, so thank you very much.
