Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, July 19, 2021 <br />Page 11 <br />while emergency help was contacted. CPR was quickly administered as well as use of the AED <br />installed at the facility; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village Fire Lieutenant Jason Brothers was off duty and at the scene that <br />day. He participated in providing exceptional service in this emergency situation and has <br />previously received a commendation for his role; and <br />WHEREAS, by the time the Mayfield Village emergency crew comprised of Tim Byrne, Reed <br />Ruthenberg, Kyle Schreiber, Ryan Fowler, and Tim Cicero arrived to provide stabilization and <br />transport to the hospital, Michael Beers was defibrillated and was alert and speaking; and <br />WHEREAS, the individuals that assisted in early recognition of the medical emergency and who <br />responded quickly to deal with the situation, deserve recognition for the parts they played in saving <br />Mr. Beers' life, including: <br />• Coach Steve Schneed & Coach Keith Koprowski, who are both credited with <br />early recognition of the situation and requesting immediate assistance from <br />Lt. Brothers; <br />0 Coach Nicole Cicconetti Smith, credited with immediate retrieval of the AED <br />and CPR pocket mask and applying the AED along with Coach Kyle <br />Eshleman; <br />• Coach Kyle Eshleman, credited with monitoring the patient's pulse and <br />applying the AED; <br />• Dana Lautenschleger, an off-duty Hillcrest Hospital ICU nurse who assisted <br />by applying chest compressions throughout the incident; and <br />• Theresa Stark and Jamie Grano, who assisted the patient's son who was on <br />scene and drove him to Hillcrest Hospital so he could meet his father there. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar, on this 19'h day <br />of July, 2021, on behalf of Mayfield Village Council, commend Steve Schneed, Keith Koprowski, <br />Nicole Cicconetti Smith, Kyle Eshleman, Dana Lautenschleger, Theresa Stark and Jamie Grano <br />for recognizing and assisting with the emergency situation that arose at Crooked River CrossFit <br />on March 27, 2021. Your training, quick actions, and compassion, all crucial to the positive <br />outcome of this life-threatening event, are noted and appreciated by all of us. <br />Council President Schutt stated, thank you Chief Carcioppolo and Mayor Bodnar. Mr. Beers, I <br />am glad everything worked out for you. You were in very good hands. Thank you to our EMS <br />and Fire as well as the employees at Crooked River CrossFit for acting in a very quick manner and <br />professionally and taking care of Mr. Beers, so thank you very much. <br />
