RESOLUTION NO. 2021-38 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bodnar AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MAYFIELD VILLAGE TO ACCEPT THE BID OF RYCON CONSTRUCTION INC. FOR THE CIVIC CENTER RESTROOM & KITCHEN RENOVATIONS PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $308,500.00 PLUS A TEN PERCENT CONTINGENCY FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $339,350.00 WHEREAS, it has been deemed in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of all Village residents and inhabitants to renovate the main restrooms and kitchen in the Mayfield Village Civic Center to make them ADA compliant; and WHEREAS, the renovation project was estimated at $370,000.00 and was advertised for bid for three consecutive weeks as required by ORC Section 735.05; and WHEREAS, a bid alternative was included in the advertisement to install new flooring in the Civic Center lobby to allow for smooth floor transitions into the renovated restrooms and kitchens; and WHEREAS, the bids were received, opened and tabulated as per published notice on October 1, 2021; and WHEREAS, the base bid of Rycon Construction Inc. in the amount of Two Hundred Ninety -Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($296,500.00) was the lowest and best bid received and the alternate bid of Rycon Construction Inc. in the amount of Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000.00) was also the lowest and best bid received; and WHEREAS, Brandstetter Carroll Inc., the architectural firm retained to design and oversee this renovation project, has reviewed all bids received and recommends that Council approve and accept the base bid and alternate bid of Rycon Construction Inc. in the total amount of $308,500.00 for said project; and WHEREAS, a ten percent (10%) contingency is also requested to cover any unforeseen conditions or changes requested by Mayfield Village. This contingency shall be in an amount not to exceed $30,850.00. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. The Council of Mayfield Village hereby accepts and approves the base bid and alternate bid of Rycon Construction Inc. in an amount not to exceed $339,350.00 and the construction contract is hereby awarded to Rycon Construction Inc.
