Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, March 21, 2022
Page 2
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Mayor Bodnar.
Comments From Council President Schutt
I would also like to wish everyone a Happy Spring. Hopefully you have been enjoying the warmer
weather we have been having lately.
The next Regular Meeting of Council is scheduled for Monday, April 18, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.
Open Portion — For Public Comment (5 -minute limit imposed by Chair)
Council President Schutt stated, if anyone wishes to speak, please come up to the podium and state
your name and address for the record.
There were no comments.
Department Head Reports:
Finance — Mr. Wynne — I will save my comments for the items as they come up on the agenda.
Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Mr. Wynne.
Parks and Recreation — Mr. McAvinew — The Commission on Aging met last week to
discuss activities for this coming year. We do have our Anniversary Party coming up in May
and a cookout in July. The main topics were to discuss those events.
I also talked to Tom Cappello this afternoon about the pool project which is on the agenda
tonight. The low bid came in at $204,540 by Cianci Construction Group. If approved tonight,
they will most likely begin construction this week. They have to check to make sure the piping
and other materials are available. If they do not complete the project by May 11th, every day
after that is $1,000.00 fine.
We will be opening the pool one week later than last year and then we will stay open all
weekends up through Labor Day. We will be shifting the calendar. Mayfield Schools go back
one week later so we have the ability for lifeguards one week longer in the summertime and
on the weekends. We are also striving to open up the pool for the adults when the kids go back
to school if we have the staffing. That is the end of my report. Are there any questions?
Mrs. Jurcisek asked, are you still looking for lifeguards?
Mr. McAvinew replied, we are always looking for lifeguards. We are at 28 right now. We
need 36. We are in better shape than we were last year. We do offer classes coming up the
week before we open. We generally pick up the cost of the class as long as they work at
