Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, September 19, 2022 <br />Page 5 <br />Mr. Snyder provided his portion of the presentation: <br />Reallocation and Allocation of resources to teaching and learning <br />3-5 year levy cycle <br />This year's budget: 2.7%. <br />Changes in expenses: around 2.5%. <br />4 -year contract negotiated with Unions within two weeks. <br />$56 million cash carryover <br />Strategic with cash reserves <br />. Asking Board to take $20 million out: <br />. Miner Rd. alignment <br />Innovation site <br />o New entrance <br />o Towards Wilson Mills Road — 50 sq. ft. <br />o CEVEC operation being moved up to that site <br />. Improvements to Lander <br />o $5 million <br />o Elevator <br />Improvements to Center ($7.5 million) <br />o Build an addition <br />o Install an Elevator <br />Tying it all together, Dr. Barnes stated, we have a vision for learning. It's entitled personalization <br />meaning we want to help each and every single student where they are and make adjustments either <br />to enrich or to provide interventions if necessary. We also want them to have skills like <br />collaboration, thinking, communication. We are working with the Board to continue to manipulate <br />the spaces so they compliment our vision for learning. We are excited about that. We will have <br />an open house at the Middle School in October. On November 4th, we will have a number of <br />Superintendents visiting Mayfield Schools to look at some of our innovative programming. We <br />are presenting in Houston, TX next week. We were invited. Are there any questions? <br />Mr. Williams asked about personalization. How do you meet a student where they are? <br />Dr. Barnes stated, the first question we want to ask is what do we want students to be able to do. <br />That's our fundamental question in our professional learning communities. We have to detect the <br />sanctity of that. The second question is how do we know that they got it? That's our assessments. <br />We assess the students based on the State's standards.
