D
2022-20 - INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar and Council as a Whole
A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO LILLIAN "PATSY" MILLS
WHEREAS, Lillian ("Patsy") Mills has lived and worked in Mayfield Village for over 50 years, raising her three
sons Art, Ralph and Jimmy, while working as a real estate agent and owning a flower shop; and
WHEREAS, in 1985, Patsy was elected as the Council Representative for Ward 2. For more than 36 years,
Patsy has served on Mayfield Village Council and, during her tenure, served as Council President and the Chair
of every Council Committee; and
WHEREAS, Patsy has dedicated her life to Village government and leadership, guiding the Councils and
Administrations under which she served, sharing her vast knowledge, and encouraging everyone to use their
talents in the hopes of preparing the individuals to be the leaders of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, throughout the years, Patsy has gone beyond the call of duty, serving as a Founding Member of
e Garden Club, and a long -serving member and officer of the Mayfield Women's Club and Mayfield Township
istorical Society, where she served as a docent giving tours to those who visit the Bennett VanCuren Historical
House. Patsy has had great influence on countless Village special events, always volunteering to help with
planning, setup and working the event; and
WHEREAS, Mayfield Village has benefitted from Patsy's many contributions, including her research at the
Mayfield Union Cemetery using ground -penetrating radar to determine exactly how many graves were there and
her service on the Records Commission to preserve records vital to documenting governmental activities. Her
belief in the importance of this service was exhibited by her attendance at many seminars to keep up with
guidelines, rules and laws of the State of Ohio, and even more volunteering at Mayfield Village's annual Shred
Day; and
WHEREAS, Patsy is known as the go -to person for historical information. She speaks with a sparkle in her eyes
and a smile on her face, as she tells stories of the past. Many refer to Patsy as a true history buff, a walking
history book, or an encyclopedia; and
WHEREAS, Patsy's most common question is, "What can I do for you?" Recently, Patsy was presented with a
Mayor's Proclamation in celebration of her 901h birthday. Patsy's humble response was, "Thank you very much.
I didn't know I did all that. It's a good way to start the next 90 years."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:
Lillian "Patsy" Mills be and is hereby recognized and congratulated for
her many years of dedicated and exceptional service to Mayfield Village.
On behalf of Mayor Bodnar, her fellow Council members, Department Heads,
staff and residents, we wish her many years of good health and happiness.
Every community should have a Patsy Mills. We are fortunate she is ours.
SECTION 1. The Village of Mayfield, its Mayor, Council, residents, employers, employees and officials wish
to thank Lillian "Patsy" Mills for her many years of dedicated and tireless service.
ce SECTION 2.
