Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, July 24, 2023 <br />Page 3 <br />Open Portion — For Public Comment (5-minute limit) <br />Council President Schutt stated, if anyone wishes to speak, please come up to the podium and <br />state your name and address for the record. <br />There were none. <br />Department Head Reports: <br />Tom Cappello (Engineer) — Yes, Council President. Phase I of the Worton Park Culvert <br />Replacement Project has been completed. Additional work will be done by this week. Wilson <br />Mills Road resurfacing is almost complete. They'll be working 12-hour shifts and then will <br />come back and do the intersection. <br />Mr. Murphy asked, will it be closed? <br />Mr. Cappello replied, no. <br />Council President Schutt asked, any further questions? <br />There were none. <br />Council President Schutt stated, thank you Mr. Cappello. <br />Shane McAvinew (Parks and Recreation) — Thank you, Mayor, Council and Administration <br />for all their help at the Grove during the July 41n Celebration. August 51n is the Village party. <br />We need volunteers to grill. There will be activities from 12-5 at the pool and then activities at <br />the Grove. Scheduled are face painting, rocket car, balloon twisters, Rick Smith, a hypnotist, <br />and a juggler. The entertainment at the Grove is the Material Girls show. It should be a fun <br />evening. Make sure you let the residents know about this celebration on August 5tn <br />Council President Schutt stated, thank you, Mr. McAvinew. Any questions? <br />There were none. <br />Chief Matias (Police Department) - Thank you Council President. An Active Threat Exercise <br />was held at the High School on July 13`n. It was well -attended. It was our first multi - <br />jurisdictional police and fire training and went very well. Thank you to all volunteers including <br />the Tri-C CERT Team. Thanks to Wildcat Sports & Fitness. Their assistance was invaluable. <br />Everyone gained the necessary additional experience to assist them in being on the same page <br />and working together. <br />
