Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, March 18, 2024
Page 7
Council President Schutt asked, any discussion?
There was none.
Mr. Murphy, seconded by Mrs. Jurcisek, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2024-04.
Council President Schutt asked, any discussion?
Mr. Meyers asked, will that lower the overtime by raising the rates for the part-timers?
Chief Carcioppolo replied, the problem is we don't have a ton of part-timers.
Mr. Meyers asked, will it offset it a little?
Chief Carcioppolo replied, if we can hire more. The part-timers we have work as much as they
can. The pool for part-time people hasn't really been that productive over the last 10 years or so.
This effort was to try to procure any interest in part-time employment. Apparently all of our
employees who are part-time are full-time elsewhere. That's mainly due to the fact that the
credentials are kind of more professional. People don't really do it as much on the side. People
who do it are full-time elsewhere and work part-time as a secondary means of income. But we will
see if we can get some interest.
Mr. Meyers replied, thank you.
Chief Carcioppolo added, just to be clear, this is really not raising the rates. There's no tiers. We
are just taking out the low end. Starting pay was $15.00. You can go to McDonald's and made
$15.00 an hour.
Council President Schutt asked, any other discussion?
There was none.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Ordinance Enacted
Council President Schutt stated, Ordinance 2024-04 is enacted.
