74 (5 l-Al A <br />RESOLUTION 2024-66 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO <br />MAYFIELD VILLAGE WARD 4 COUNCIL MEMBER <br />GEORGE WILLIAMS <br />WHEREAS, George Williams and his wife Loretta have lived in Mayfield Village's Worton Park neighborhood <br />for over 20 years and, in 2014, became members of the Mayfield Village Citizens Advisory Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2015. George Williams was selected from a pool of candidates by the members of Council to <br />be the Council Representative for Ward 4 to complete the term of the outgoing Ward 4 Council representative: <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in 2017, and again in 2021, George Williams was re-elected by Ward 4 residents to represent <br />them; and <br />WHEREAS, George Williams continued to be active on the Citizens Advisory Committee, acting as the Council <br />Representative assigned to the Committee. In addition. he served on a variety of other Council committees, <br />including the Community and Economic Development Committee and the Mayfield Union Cemetery <br />Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, George has been a dedicated representative of Ward 4, serving as the de <br />facto head of the Worton Park Homeowners Association, holding regular community meetings to determine the <br />needs of his neighborhood, communicating to the neighborhood through updates in the Voice of the Village, and <br />advocating for solutions to address traffic concerns, the increasing deer population, and neighborhood flooding; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, George also took an interest in understanding how the Village's safety forces function, regularly <br />scheduling time to meet with the Chiefs and go out on calls with Police and Fire employees; and <br />WHEREAS, most recently, Geoge advocated strongly for the Values -in -Action Kindland Initiative, receiving <br />unanimous support from his fellow Council members in 2023 for Mayfield Village to become a member, and <br />working with the members of the Citizens Advisory Committee on ideas to advance its goals; and <br />WHEREAS, George and Loretta Williams have determined that it is time to leave Mayfield Village and live <br />nearer to family in the warmer climes of North Carolina. They will be missed by all. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />George Williams be and is hereby recognized and congratulated for <br />his many years of dedicated and exceptional service to Mayfield Village and the <br />residents of Ward 4. On behalf of Mayor Bodnar, fellow Council Members, Department <br />Heads, staff and the residents of Mayfield Village, Ohio, we wish George <br />and Loretta many years of good health and happiness, <br />enjoying precious time with their children and grandchildren. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED: December 16. 2024 <br />STEPHEN SCHUTT, Council President <br />BRENDA T.
