RESOLUTION NO. 81-11 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor & Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE POSTAL RATE COMMISSION TO REJECT <br />ANY FURTHER INCREASE IN POSTAL RATES. <br />WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service has applied <br />to the Postal Rate Commission for an increase in mail rate that <br />would hike the cost of a first-class stamp from Fifteen Cents ($.15) <br />to Twenty Cents ($.20); and <br />WHEP.EAS, such an increase, if granted, will add to the <br />already burdensome inflation existing in our economy and would impose <br />further hardship on small businesses resulting in further cutbacks <br />and unemployment; and <br />WHEREAS, it would be more beneficial to both consumers <br />and small businesses for the United States Postal Service to embark <br />on a program of cutbacks o.n expenses, improvement of efficiency <br />and better utilization of manpower and equipment, in tune with the <br />economic revitalization program espoused by President Reagan; Now, <br />Therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED .BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of.Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />urges the Postal Rate Commission to reject any proposed increase <br />in mail rates for the reason set forth hereinabove. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized, <br />empowered and directed to forward copies of this Resolution to President <br />Ronald Reagan, to the United States Postal Rate Commission and to <br />Postmaster General William Bolger. <br />Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect at the earliest <br />time allowed by law. <br />S~ <br />Alan G.
