ORDINANCE NO • ~ '~ G <br />BY MR• S aaiA ~~o ~ <br />AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE PAYMENT OF CHAFES FOR EMERGENCY SNOW PLOj,1ING. <br />.k~•IEREAS, on the second day of March, 194°7, an unprecedented blizzard <br />descended upon the Village of Mayfield which resulted in the blocking of the <br />roads a.ncl highways of said Village so as to make their use impossible, and <br />WI-LEREAS, no relief from this situation was afforded the Village <br />either by the State Highway Department or the County Highway Department <br />wherein a great emergency arose inasmuch .as the stx°eet: and highways of the. <br />Village were impassable, and <br />~IHEREAS, the Mayor acting in behalf of the Village arra.n,ged for the <br />plowing. of said rva.ds.by Howarcl Schultz, a resident of this Village a,nd the <br />owner of snow plowing ecuipment, and <br />1~THEREAS, said Howa~'d Schulte pursuant to instructions from the Mayor <br />did plosz the main roads a.nd highways of th3.s Vi11~z.ge thereby making them <br />passable and relieving the emergency, and <br />WHEREAS, in doing said work said Howard Schultz expended five hours. <br />time for himself a-nc1. the use of his snow plowing ecuipment, and <br />_~ WHEP~AS, the fair value of the services rendered this Ville.ge in <br />such snow plowing by Howard Schultz and for the use of his ecuipment is X6.50 <br />per hour. <br />NOZ;T' THEREFORE, BE IT OP.1)AINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF <br />HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO, that: <br />Section l: The action o_f the Mayor in causing the roads <br />and highways of this Via.lage to be plowed free of snow as aforesaid be and <br />the same hereby is approved and is ratified and confirmed. <br />Section 2: It is hereby determined that tYie charge of <br />X6.50 per hour for five hours for the time of Howard Schultz and the use of <br />his snow plowing ecuipment is a fair and reasonable charge and that the sum <br />of ~3?.50 be paid to said Howard Schultz in payment for services rendered by <br />him and his ecuipment to this Vi11~ge by the treasury of this Village. <br />Section 3: This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency ordinance necessary for the immediate preserv~.tion of the public <br />health, safety, convex~..ence and welfare for reasons a.ppa.rent from the contents <br />of said O~~dinance a.nd therefore this Ordin.~.nce shall take effect and be in <br />force from and after its date of passage. <br />Passed the ~_ day of G%~~G ~'`°°~" A.D. 15'47• <br />-„~_ . <br />~~ ~ ~~ _ s <br />Mayor -President of_ Council <br />AC~_ <br />-~~_ <br />(S~~L) Qillage Clerk <br />
