c: <br />OPDINAI~TCE No, X27 <br />By Dr. Waltz <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTIONS 2 AND 3 OF <br />ORDINANCE No.. 402 REGARDING APPOINTMENT, . <br />TENURE AND COI~dPENSATION .OF THE MARSHAL. <br />A1l'D CHIEF OF POLICE AND SPECIAL POLICEMEN <br />C <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />OHIO' THAT: <br />Sec. 1. Sections 2 and 3 of Ordinance No. l~02 entitled: "An <br />Ordinance to Repeal Ordinances Nos. 362 and 375 and to Provide for the <br />Offices and Compensation of Marshal and Chief of Police and Special <br />Policemen" are hereby amended to read, as follows, on and after the <br />effective-date of this Ordinance: <br />"Sec. 2. Appointment and Tenuree All Officers of the <br />Police Departmen~sha~ be appointed by the Mayor, by and with the consent <br />of Council. Appointment of the Marshal and.Chief of Police shall be made <br />according to the laws of the State of Ohio for a probationary period of <br />six months continuous service. At the end of such probationary period, <br />the Mayor shall transmit to Council the record. of services of such appointee, <br />with his recommendations thereon, and such appointment shall then become <br />final upon approval by both the Mayor and Council,. Thereafter-the term <br />o.f the person so appointed shall. be according to the laws of the State <br />o:~" Ohio. No special policeman shall be appointed for any period <br />exceeding three months at a time, - <br />"Sec. 3, Compensation. The following compensation shall <br />be paid, but may e~cianged a arty time by council by ordinance, resolution <br />or motion: <br />Marshal or Chief of Police <br />Special Policeman <br />-~ 350.00 per month <br />X1.25 for each hour during which <br />he serves as such on assignment <br />by the Mayor of Chief of Police. <br />"The total number of hours to be served by all special policemen <br />during any one calendar month shall not be in excess of 175, but council, may <br />chafe the m~sri mum number of hours at any time by ordinance, resolution or <br />motion. Special arrangements may be made by council with special policemen <br />whereby they shall not be paid for arty police service performed in connection <br />with the operation of their own business," <br />Sec, 2. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure, <br />necessar~r oar die immediate preservation of the public peace, health and <br />safety of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants because of the necessity <br /> <br />
