ORDINANCE No. 2~~It <br />By Mr. Endress <br />AN ORDIlVANCE TO Ab6END SECTION 3 OF ORDINANCE No. 231 AS <br />AMENDED BY ORD~ZQANCES NOS.. 292, 3~2 -and 2;12 BY 1~ROVIDINa <br />FOR EMPI,OYIt~NT.OF A FZRF~dAN TO VPORK 3IVSSDE THE-FIRE STATION <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE~VIIIAGE OF HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, <br />OHIO' THAT: _ - - . _ _ . _ - - _ . <br />Sec. 1, Section ~ of Ordinance No. 231, entitled: t~An Ordinance <br />Establish~.ng~an~ Creating a Voluntary Fire Department for the_Village of <br />Mayfield~t, as amended by t~dinarices Nos. 292, 302 and lag, is hereby <br />amended to read, as follows: <br />"See. 3. The-Fire Department is-authorized to act and to <br />use the- f re apparatus- of the- Village- 3:n times- of emergency to <br />safeguard life, lireb, property• and the public ,safety,.and health. <br />Ths Chief of the- Village Fire Department shall- `be-.paid the sum of <br />X5.00 and each of. the- other meffibers .of the Vi7.].age- Fire Department <br />shal]. be-- paid the-sum .of X3.00 fore each fire- or emergency call up <br />to the-first hour thereof, The. Chief .of the-Fire Department and <br />each volunteer fireman .sha71. be-paid the sum of ~1.~ for each <br />additional hour or mayor portion thereof spent-in answering such <br />fire or emergency~eall. Afire call or emergency .call shall be <br />deemed to begin wfian the fire .equipment leaves its regular station <br />and to ~ssd when it has been returned to its regular stop. The <br />Chief of the FirB Department is authorized to-employ a fireman, <br />whose duties sha11 _be- to remain in tbe- fire station -and answer <br />telephones, worl~ upon .and maintain the-fire equipment, and perform <br />incidental duties within the confines of the fire station. Such <br />fireman may be removed .at arty time-at the-pleasure of the Mayor <br />or .Chief of _ the- Fire Department. He -shall be • paid the sum of <br />$1.25 for each hour worked, .unless; such amount of compensation is <br />changed by council by means-of ordinance, resolution-or motion, <br />and he shall be employed- for not more- than 1}0 hours in ar~r one <br />month. There is hereby appropriated from the General Fund of the <br />Village of Mayfield an amount sufficient to pay the compensation <br />for such fireman. ~, <br />Sec. 2. Existing Section 3 hitherto appearing in said O~iinances <br />Nos. 231,02 and 2#12, i~ hereby repealed as of this> date. <br />Sec. 3. This ordinance is deemed to be~~an-amergency~measure, <br />necessary oar he-,immediate preservation of the- public safety and welfare <br />of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants, in order to insure better <br />reception of telephone calls to the fire department and in order to improve <br />the service, and this ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon the <br />date of its passage. <br />
