The Village Fire Department shall consist of a Chief, <br />Assistan-tZ~hief, a Captain, not to exceed two Lieutenants, ar~rl not more <br />than 1$.Firemen, all of whom shall be appointed bg the for, subject <br />to approval and coniir~nation by Council., .All members of the Fire <br />Department shall continue i.n office until they resign or are removed <br />for the causes and under the procedure provided by the applicable <br />statutes of the•State of Ohio. <br />Sec. 3. The Firs Department is authorized to act and to use <br />the fire apparatus of the Village in ti~iea of emergency to safeguard <br />life, limb, property sad the public safety and. health. The Chief of <br />the Fire Department sha11 be paid the sr,~ of X5.00 and each of the <br />other members-of the Fire Department shall be•paid the sum of X3.00 <br />for each fire or emergency . ca71 up to the fir3t hour thereof. .The <br />Chief of the. Fare Department and each volunteer fireman shall be paid <br />th® sum of ~].,(~ for each additieaal hour or mayor portion thereof <br />spent in answering such fire or emergency call. Afire cal]. or emergency <br />ca].? shall be deemed to begin when the fire equipmer~~ leaves its regular <br />station and to end when it has bean returned thereto. The Assistant Chief shall <br />act as Chief of the F'3.re Department in the absence of the Chief, and <br />shall receive the same compensation as the Chief would receive when he <br />ie acting in the place of the Chiesf; at ~dather times the Assistant <br />Chief shall be paid at the same rate of compensation as ar® other <br />members-of the Fire Department. <br />Sec. 3 a). Each volunteer fireman and-each ,officer of the FYre <br />Departments _ be compe~ated at th® rate of ~.•OO for each fire dr.L1]. <br />that he attends, provided, however; that such fire drills are duly <br />authorized b9'the Chief of the Fire•Departanent, or in his absence by the <br />Assistant Chief, and further provided that no person shall. be paid for <br />attending more than tRO fire drills in at~r one calendar mouth. <br />
