ORDINANCE No. 747 <br />By Mrs. Brown <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE ESTABLISHb1ENT AND <br />MANUAL OF RULES FOR THE AU%ILLARY POLICE UNIT <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILZAGE OF HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />OHIO, THAT: <br />Sec. 1. ~proval of establishment of auxiliary police unit. Council <br />hereby approves the establishment of an auxiliary police unit by the Police <br />Department of the Village of Mayfield, to work in times of war and other <br />emergency and to train and prepare for such occasions, under the direction <br />of the Police Department, as part of the Civil Def ense Program of the Village <br />of Mayfield. <br />Sec. 2. Number of members, appointment, and removal; not entitled to <br />certain benefits. The determination of the total number of members of the <br />Auxiliary Police Unit and their appointment shall be determined jointly by the <br />Chief of Police and Civil Defense Director, subject to approval of the Mayor <br />and Council. Members of the Auxuliary Police Unit shall not be considered <br />as regular members of the Police Department for purposes of tenure, and shall <br />not receive compensation nor be entitled to participation in the Police Pension <br />Fund. They may be removed by either the Chief of Police, the Mayor or the <br />Civil Defense Director, under rules set up by the Auxiliary Police Unit. <br />Sec. 3. Eligibility for Workmenss Compensation as Civil Defense <br />Volunteers. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit, who take the Loyalty <br />Oath as required by Section 4123.037 of the Ohio Revised Code and are <br />registered or enrolled in writing in accordance with Section 4123.036 <br />thereof , shall be entitled to the benefits of T.Jorlcmenss Compensation as <br />Civil Defense volunteers under Sections 4123.031 to 4123.037, both inclusive. <br />Sec< 4. Functions and Duties. rSembers of the Auxiliary Police Unit <br />shall have such functions and duties in time of war and emergency and in <br />preparation and training for such occasions as are set forth in Chapter 595, <br />entitled: "Civil Defense", of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Sec. 5. Approval of Manual of Rules. The Manual of Rules & Regulations <br />governing the Auxiliary Police of the Village of Mayf ie1d, hitherto filed with <br />Council, is hereby approved and made a part hereof insofar as not inconsistent <br />with law. <br />
