ORDINANCE No. 788 <br />By Mr. Shaw <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A FIRE PREVENTION CODE, <br />PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING CONDITIONS <br />HAZARDOUS TO ZIFE AND PROPERTY.FROM FIRE_OR <br />EXPZOSION,.AND,ESTABZISHING A BUREAU_OF FIRE <br />PREVENTION AND PROVIDING.OFFICERS THEREFOR <br />AND DEFINING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VII~IAGE OF HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />OHIO, f iye.members.elected thereto_concurring:_ _. <br />Sec, 1. There is hereby adopted by the Council of the Village of <br />Nlayf field, Ohio, that certain Code known as the Fire Prevention Code recommended <br />by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, being particularly the 1960 edition <br />thereof and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter <br />deleted, mod if ied or amended, the purpose of which code is to prescribe <br />regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or <br />explosion, and the said code is hereby adopted and incorporated herein as <br />fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this <br />ordinance shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling <br />within the limits of the Village of Mayf field, Ohio. A complete copy of <br />such code is now on file with the Clerk of the Village of Mayffield for <br />inspection by the public and also on file in the Law Library of Cuyahoga <br />County, Ohio, and the Clerk has copies thereof available for distribution <br />to the public at cost. <br />Sec. 2. The Fire Prevention Code shall be enf orced by the Bureau of <br />Fire Prevention in the Volunteer Fire Department of the Village of Mayfield, <br />Ohio, which is hereby established and shall be operated under the supervision <br />of the Chief of the Fire Department. The Chief of the Fire Department may <br />be in charge of the Bureau of Fire Prevention or he may .appoint another <br />off icer to be in charge thereof, but he shall be chosen on the basis of <br />examination to determine his qualif ications. His appointment shall continue <br />during good behavior and satisf actory service,_and he shall not be removed <br />from office except for cause after public hearing. The Chief of the Fire <br />Department may detail such members of the Fire Department as Inspectors as <br />shall from time to time be necessary. A report_of the Bureau_of Fire <br />Prevention shall be made annually and transmitted to the riayor of_.the D1uni- <br />cipality; it shall contain all proceedings under this code, with such <br />statistics as the Chief of the Fire Department may wish to include therein; <br />the Chief of the Fire Department shall also recommend any. amendments to the <br />code which, in his judgment, shall be desirable. <br />Sec. 3. Wherever the word "Municipality" is used in the Fire <br />Prevention Code, it shall be held to_mean the Village of Mayffield, Ohio. <br />
