RESOLUTION N0. 86- 49 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZ ING THE MAYOR AND DIRECTOR OF <br />FINANCE TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE PU RCHASE <br />OF A NEW EMERGENCY MEDICAL VEHICLE FROM THE HORTON <br />COMPANY IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FORTY EIGHT <br />THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED FORTY DOLLARS ($48,740.00), <br />DECLARING SAID PURCHASE TO BE AN EMERGENCY <br />EXPENDITURE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Municipality has recently adopted Resolution <br />No. 86-22 extending its prior agreement with the Village of Gates <br />Mills for the exchange of certain police ana fire protection services; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforesaid agreement the munici- <br />pality is to provir7e to the Village of Gates Mills ambulance and <br />emergency medical service; and <br />WHEREAS, the back-up ambulance owned by the municipality is <br />a 1968 model year vehicle and in recent months has become increasingly <br />undependable in its operation and costly to maintain; and <br />WHEREAS, the municipality has been offered the opportunity <br />to purchase a new emergency medical vehicle that has previously been <br />used as a demonstrator; and <br />WHEREAS, the Village of Gates Mills has agreed to pay for <br />one-half (1/2) the cost of the said emergency medical vehicle; and <br />WHEREAS, the purchase of the new vehicle is necessary to <br />maintain effective emergency medical service to not only the residents <br />of the Village of Gates Mills but also to the residents of Mayfield <br />Village; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Director of Finance are hereby <br />authorized to execute a purchase agreement with The Horton Company in <br />an amount not to exceed Forty Eight Thousand Seven Hundred Forty <br />Dollars ($48,740.00) for a 451 Type III Demonstrator Model Emergency <br />Medical Vehicle, said purchase agreement to be in accordance with the <br />proposal from The Horton Company dated August 25, 1986. <br />Section 2. The purchase authorized in Section 1 is <br />contingent upon receipt of the appropriate legislation or other <br />authority from the Village of Gates Mills verifying its commitment to <br />pay f or one-half (1/2) the cost of the subject vehicle. <br />Section 3. The purchase authorized herein is hereby <br />declared to be an emergency purchase pursuant to Article IX of the <br />Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, for the reasons set forth in the <br />preamble hereto.
