RESOLUTION N0. 84- 16 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Fred N. Carmen <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZ ING THE MAYOR <br />TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT FOR <br />MEMB ERSH IP IN THE SUBURBAN WATER <br />COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Suburban Water Council of Governments has been <br />created as a Regional Council of Governments pursuant to Chapter 167 <br />of the Ohio Revised Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the Suburban Water Council of <br />Governments is to create an organization of municipal corporations to <br />which the City of Cleveland sells water; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the further purpose of the Suburban Water <br />Council of Governments to represent such municipal corporations in <br />communications, understanding, uniform approaches and exchange of <br />information between the Council of Governments and the City of <br />Cleveland with respect to water service, system and local operations, <br />rates, maintenance and capital investments; and <br />WHEREP,S, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village have <br />determined that membership in the Suburban Water Council of <br />Governments will enhance the Village's position regarding the purchase <br />of water from the City of Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, the Suburban Water Council of Governments has <br />requested that all municipalities enact legislation to join the afore- <br />mentioned organization as soon as possible; now, theref ore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Director of Finance are hereby <br />authorized and directed to execute the Agreement for Participation in <br />the Suburban Water Council of Governments, said Agreement to be in <br />substantially the same form as that attached hereto and marked as <br />Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2. The Mayor is further authorized and directedo <br />pursuant to Article III of the aforementioned Agreement, to represent <br />Mayfield Village on the Suburban Water Council of Governments. <br />Section 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />c3irected to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the <br />executive director of the Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Managers <br />Association. <br />Section 4.
