Resolution No. ggs <br />Introduced by: Council As A Whole <br />A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MAY, 1975 AS <br />SAFETY ON THE STREETS, IN THE HOMES AND IN THE <br />BUILDINGS MONTH <br />WHEREAS, The Greater Cleveland Safety Council is a chapter of the National Safety <br />Council thereby spearheading the cause of safety in this entire area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Women's Conference of the National Safety Council represents some <br />500 members at large and 62 national and international women's organizations with <br />an outreach to 55 million women; and <br />WHEREAS, 46,200 deaths and 2,000,000 disabling injuries are attributable to <br />motor vehicles; aggravated assaults have increased some 47 percent since 1968 causing <br />just concern for concerted, citizen effort; and <br />WHEREAS, the Safety on the Streets Crusade represents an action-oriented program <br />for volunteers nationwide who marshal the human resources of their communities and p.ublic <br />service, civic, fraternal and law enforcement agencies to have safe neighborhoods; and <br />WHEREAS, program aspects of S.O.S. include automobile, bicycle, pedestrian, per- <br />sonal and school safety, with public support being urged for alcohol and drug counter- <br />measures and national highway safety standardso <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT: <br />Section l. This Council does hereby proclaim the month of May, 1975, SAFETY ON <br />THE STREETS, IN THE HOMES AND IN THE BUILDNGS MONTH, in conjunction with the Greater <br />Cleveland Safety Council in Mayfield Village. <br />Section 2. Due recognition be given to the outstanding contribution to this <br />municipality and to the other communities throughout the nation of volunteer woman <br />power, united to secure SAFETY ON THE STREETS,,IN THE HOMES AND IN BUILDINGS. <br />Passed: April 21, 1975. <br />Attest: <br />,2C ERK OF =OUN L
