Resolution No. 909 <br />Introduced by: Mayor Leech <br />A RESOLUTION URGING MODERATION IN DRINKING <br />WHEREAS, half of all fatal automobile accidents involve drivers whose abilities <br />have been impaired by alcoholic beverages; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village desires to reduce traffic accidents resulting from <br />drinking and driving during the holiday period; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cleveland Automobile Club and affiliated American Automobile <br />Association Clubs are conducting a realistic safety campaign urging party hosts to <br />make it easy for drivers to refuse a drink; and <br />WHEREAS, the campaign slogan is "FIRST A FRIENDe..THEN A HOST", meaning that <br />hosts should not permit friends to drive home if their driving abilities have been <br />impaired due to drinking. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. It is hereby proclaimed that the period commencing the effective date <br />of this Resolution through January 1, 1976 be proclaimed a period for'rational moder- <br />ation in drinking and all of our citizens are urged to observe this; period to protect <br />the lives of all persons and property on our highways and streets:" <br />/ <br />Adopted: December 15, 1975 <br />Attest: <br />CL8RK OF COUNCIL <br />Approved : , <br />OF
