ii/zo/s9 <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-83 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL <br />TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR PARTICIPATION BY THE VILLAGE <br />IN RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE RECYCLING TAROUGH <br />WASTE MANAGEMENT OF OHIO-WESTERN RESERVE AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, recycling helps preserve our environment by reusing materials so <br />that we save our natural resources and cut down on the amount of solid waste <br />placed in land£ills; and <br />WHEREAS, it is becoming more expensive to dispose of our waste in land- <br />fills and waste-to-energy incinerators; and <br />WfII.+REAS, MayPield Village can recover some costs by saving of disposal <br />fees and obtaining proceeds from the the sales of recycled materials; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council wish to incorporate the recycling program <br />within the rubbish removal program through Waste Management of Ohio-Western <br />Reserve to provide efficient service at a minimal cost; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village desires to participate <br />in Residential Curbside Recycling through Waste Management of Ohio-Western <br />Reserve, now therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council are hereby authorized and directed to <br />execute a contract with Waste Management of Ohio-Western Reserve £or partici- <br />pation by the residents o£ Mayfield Village in Residential Curbside Recycling <br />from January 1, 1990, through July 31, 1991, in the amount of One Dollar and <br />Seventy-Five Cents ($1.75) per home for the month, with a Ten Cent ($0.10) <br />increase in said price to take effect per annum on the anniversary date of the <br />contract. The contract authorized shall be in a form approved by <br />Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of <br />this Council relating to the adoption o£ this Resolution have been taken at <br />open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of <br />its committees, resulting in such £ormal action, took place in meetings open
