RESOLUTION N0. 87-20 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF TWO <br />THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500.00) TO THE <br />MAYFIELD TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR THE <br />RELOCATION OF AN HISTORICAL BUILDING AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield Township Historical Society is a <br />corporation not for profit organized and existing under the laws of <br />the State of Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 149.30 of the Ohio Revised Code provides, <br />in part, that the Ohio General Assembly may appropriate money to the <br />Ohio Historical Society to carry out its public functions as <br />enumerated in Chapter 149 of the Ohio Revised Code; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 307.23 of the Ohio Revised Code provides, <br />in part, that Boards of County Commissioners may appropriate money to <br />historical societies within their counties for promotion of historical <br />work; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />recognize that the Mayfield Township Historical Society operates to <br />promote a knowledge of history and tradition for those residents of <br />Mayfield Village, Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights, Gates Mills and <br />a portion of the City of Lyndhurst, which formerly comprised Mayfield <br />Township; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield Township Historical Society has been <br />given possession of an historical house currently located on Wilson <br />Mills Road just east of S.O.M. Center Road provided the Society can <br />raise the funds to move the house to a new location; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village has previously agreed to lease to <br />the Mayfield Township Historical Society a certain parcel of land <br />owned by the municipality on S.O.M. Center Road north of Wilson Mills <br />Road; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield Township Historical Society has <br />requested that Mayfield Village allocate the sum of Two Thousand Five <br />Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00) toward the relocation of the said <br />historical building; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village have <br />determined that this effort by the Mayfield Township Historical <br />Society will promote the health, safety and welfare of the residents <br />of Mayfield Village for the reason that it preserves and promotes the <br />history and tradition of old Mayfield Township; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council of Mayfield Village authorize, by <br />Motion, at its regular meeting on Monday, February 16, 1987, the <br />expenditure of funds referred to herein and now wishes to ratify its <br />action in expending such funds; now, therefore, <br />
