ORDINANCE N0. 88- 37 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and the Entire Council <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />AHEbIDING SECTION 123.02 OF THE <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, <br />PERTAINING TO CONTRACTS AND THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR <br />BIDS, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT ~IITH <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, Offi0, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. Section 123.02 of the Codified Ordinances of Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio, is hereby amended to read as follows: (Deleted material <br />appears like this and new material appears like THIS.) <br />Chapter 123 <br />Ordinances and Contracts <br />s: ~ .. <br />123.02 Contracts; Advertising for Bids; Award. <br />The advertising for bids involving the expenditure of <br />more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) shall be made <br />by ~~h~r motion of Council directing the Clerk of Council <br />to advertise for not less than once during each of two (2) <br />consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in <br />the municipality. NOTWITHSTANDING THE AUTHORITY OF COUN- <br />CIL, the Mayor shall also have the authority to place an <br />advertisement for bids as required herein. The award of <br />a contract accepting such bid shall be by Resolution of <br />Council and shall direct the Mayor and President of Coun- <br />cil to enter into an appropriate contract. <br />No purchase of goods and services in an amount equal <br />to or greater than Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars <br />($2,500.00) shall be made without first obtaining at least <br />two (2) written quotations from reputable suppliers sub- <br />mitted to Council. Authority to make such purchases shall. <br />be made by motion approved by a majority of the members <br />elected to Council. <br />For the purchase of goods or services in amounts <br />less than Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), <br />the Mayor shall have authority to make the purchase <br />without prior authorization from Council so long as the <br />availability of appropriated funds for such purchase is <br />
