RESOLUTION NO. 78-36 <br />BY: Mayor Robert G. Beebe and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION ON THE OCCASION <br />OF THE RETIREMENT OF WILLIAM A. SHORTLE AS <br />CHIEF OF POLICE. <br />WHEREAS, on July 21, 1978, William A. Shortle will re- <br />tire as Chief of Police of Mayfield Village after nearly twenty <br />years of public service; and <br />WHEREAS, during his tenure as Chief the Mayfield Village <br />Police Department has grown both in numbers and quality, due <br />primarily to his dedication to his position; and <br />WHEREAS, William A. Shortle has served as President of <br />the Cuyahoga County Police Chief's Association and has been active <br />in numerous other professional organizations for the purpose of <br />furthering the cause of law enforcement in the United States; and <br />WHEREAS, William A. Shortle is more than a dedicated pub- <br />lic servant, being a patriotic and noteworthy American citizen; and <br />WHEREAS, the occasion of his retirement represents a loss <br />to Mayfield Village but nevertheless an occasion which should <br />not be allowed to pass without official note; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. On the occasion of his retirement, Chief of <br />Police William A. Shortle is of£icially commended and thanked by <br />this Council, for itself and on behalf of the Mayor, members of <br />the administration, staff and all of the countless residents of <br />Mayfield Village who have benefited from his service. <br />Section 2. The best wishes of this Village go with Chief <br />William A. Shortle at this time. <br />Section 3. The Clerk is autharized and directed to pre- <br />pare duplicate copies of this resolution. one such original <br />shall be presented to Chief William A. Shortle as a small token <br />of the great appreciation which his service has merited on this <br />occasion. The other original copy shall be placed in the permanent
