Beebe I f/•1*? <br />AN ORDINANCE BSTABLISHING THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR <br />OF PUIILIC SAFETY BY TfIE ADOPTION OF CHAPTER 138 <br />OF THF CODIFIED ORDINANCES. <br />WHEREAS, with the growth of P4ayfield Village, the administra- <br />tion of the Police Department, Fire Department and Code Enforcement <br />Sections of the IIuilding Department has placed an increasing burden <br />on the fSayor as the Chief conservator of the peace; ancl <br />WHEREAS, there is not currently another office in the <br />municipality capable of supervising and coordinating the activities <br />of these three departments, now, therefore, <br />BS IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILL2IGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Chapter 138 is hereby established, entitled <br />"Safety Director" to read as follows: <br />"138.01 Safety Director: There shall be in Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio the position of Safety Director, the incumbent <br />of which shall be responsible for sup&rvisin9 and coordinating <br />the activities of the Police Department, Fire Department and <br />Code Enforcement Section of the Buildinq Department with regard <br />to matters of policy. The Chief of Police, Chief of Fire and <br />Building Commissioner shall serve under the Safety Director <br />as their immediate supervisor. <br />138.03 Vacancy in Office: Whenever there shall be a <br />vacancy in the office of Safety Director, the Mayor shall <br />automatically assume the position of Safety Director and shall <br />be oaid the compensation of the Safety Director on a pro rata <br />basis for so long as he fills such position. The Mayor may, <br />but need not appoint a person to fill such vacancy but, when <br />so-appointed, the appointment shall require the confirmation <br />of a majority of the members elected to Council. <br />138.05 Compensation: The position of Safety Director <br />shall be a part-time position for which compensation shall <br />be paid at the rate of One Dollar ($1.00) per year, payable <br />annually. <br />Section 2.
