ORDINANCE N0. 74- 3 Introduced, by: Prager AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING SALARY PAYMEPdTS TO VILLAGE EMPLOYEES WHILE SERVING ON JURY DUTY OR IN THE ACTIVE RESERVE OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. The Clerk-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay all full time employees of the Village at their regular rate of compensation while serving on jury duty, less any payment received by such employee as compen- sation for jury duty. Section 2. The Clerk-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay all full time employees of the Village at their regular rate of compensation for service in the active reserve of the United States Armed Forces, subject, however, that employees serving in this category shall be paid for a period not to exceed two calendar weeks per calendar year. Section 3. The Clerk-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized to establish the procedure for determining the amount of compensation received by an employee for jury duty or as a member of the Active Reserve of the United States Armed Forces. The Clerk-Treasurer may require appropriate affidavits or other documents so that he will be assured that there has been full compliance with the spirit and intent of this Ordinance. Section 4. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants, so that employees serving as a member of a jury or as a member of the active reserve of the United Statas Armed Forces may be appropriately compensated for such public service and shall take effect from and after the date of its passage.
