ORDINANCE N0. 74- 'S Introduced by.: $ennett AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF BUILDING INSPECTOR AND REPEALING ORDINANCES 1047, 1070, 69-27, 737, and 530 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF TFIE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. There is hereby created the office of Building Inspector who shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation of the appointment by Council, for a period of one (1) year. Section 2. The Building Inspector shall have the following duties and responsibilities: a. To prepare and issue all building permits, occupancy permits and all other certificates required by the ordinances of the Village of Mayfield; collect the permit fees provided by ordinance, giving receipts therefore and paying the same into the Village treasury; make inspections of buildings or alterations and improvements thereto; report violations of the building code to the Mayor; assist in the enforcement of the Building Code; to perform all duties and acts required of the Building Inspector under the Building Code. b. To be responsible for the care, inspection, and maintenance of the structural integrity of the Village Hall and other Village buildings. c. To attend meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Architectural Board, and such other committees upon request by the respective chairman. d. To perform such other duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the Building Inspector as required by the ordinances of the Village or orders of the Mayor. Section 3. The Building Inspector shall be compensated for his services at the rate of $10,500.00 per year, beginning January 1, 1974. The rate of com- pensation may be increased or decreased at any time by the Council. The Village shall also provide and pay the premiums for hospitalization and medical insurance for the Building Inspector through Blue Cross of Northeast Ohio, Inc. Section 4. The Building Inspector shall give bond in the amount of $5,000.00 with sufficient surety to be approved by the Solicitor. Section 5. Ordinances 1047, 1070, 69-27, 737, and 530 shall be repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance.
