Ordinance No. 74-56 <br />Introduced by: Mr. Barclay <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 1975 EDZTION OE THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL <br />CODE AND ARTICLE 700 OF THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, <br />OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. There is hereby adopted by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, <br />Ohio, that certain Code known as the 1975 Edition of the National Electrical Code and <br />Article 700 of the National Fire Protective Association. A complete copy of such Code <br />is now on file with the Clerk-Treasurer of the.Village for inspection by the public <br />and also on file in the Law Library of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and the Clerk-Treasurer <br />has copies thereof available for distribution to the public at cost. <br />Section 2. The National Electrical Code and Article 700 shall be enforced <br />by the Building Inspector, the Electrical Inspector and by the Fire Department. <br />Section 3. This Ordinance shall also adopt the National Fire Protective Assoc- <br />iation Life Safety Code - Article 700-101 where emergency lighting is considered <br />essential to life safety. See Article 700-1 Scope. <br />Section 4. Any person who shall violate any o£ the provisions of the National <br />Electrical Code above described, or shall fail to comply therewith, or who shall <br />viclate or fail to comply with auy order made thereunder, or who ahall build in violation <br />of any detailed specifications or plans submitted and approved thereunder, or any <br />certificate or permit issued thereunder, and from which no appeal has been taken, or <br />who shall fail to comply with such an order as affirmed or modified by the Board of <br />Building Code Appeals or by a Court of competent jurisdiction, shall severally for each <br />and every such Violation and non-compliance, respectively, be guilty of a misdemeanor, <br />punishable by a fine of not more than $500.00 or by an imprisonment for not more than <br />30 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. <br />Section 5. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />necessary for the i.mmediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and wel- <br />fare of the Village of Mayfield, and for the further reaaon that it is necessary to <br />adopt the National Electrical Code as revised as soon as possible to protect the citizens <br />of said Village from the dangers of defective electrical wiring, and this Ordinance shall <br />take effect and be enforced immediately from and after the date of its passage. <br />Passed this 23rd day of Dece[Rb2S , 1974 <br />? <br />?'?""'?--.m.-- <br />Attest: <br />(SeaL) Clerk-Treasurer <br />- PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL <br />
