ORDINANCE NO. 71-30 <br />BY: MR. Sch ;d <br />AN ORDINANCE APB3NDING SECTION 9 OF ORDINANCE N0. 309, <br />THE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE, SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE OPERATION <br />OF A PIOTOR VEHICLE SO AS TO WILLFULLY ELUDE OR FLEE <br />A POLICE OFFICER <br />Be It Ordained by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, County of <br />Cuyahoga, State of Ohio, that: <br />Section 1. Section 9 of Ordinance No. 309, entitled "An Ordinance To <br />Regulate Traffic on the Streets and Public Highways of the Village of Mayfield, <br />and Repealing Ordinance Nos. 5, 55, 90 and 307", is hereby amended to read as <br />follows: <br />"Section 9. Obeying Police Officer <br />No person shall fail or refuse to comply with any lawful <br />order or direction of any police officer invested by law <br />with authority to direct, control or regulate traffic, also <br />including school guards, firemen and persons designated <br />by the PTayor or Chief of Police to act in cases of <br />emergency. <br />No persons shall operate a motor vehicle so as to willfully <br />elude or flee a police officer after receiving a visible <br />or audible signal from a police officer to bring his motor <br />vehicle to a stop." <br />Section 2. Existing Section 9 of, Ordinance No. 309 is hereby repealed <br />as of the effective date of this Ordinance. <br />Section 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and <br />welfare of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants, in order to secure safety <br />on the streets and highways of the Village of Mayfield, and said Ordinance shall be <br />in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage. <br />Passed this 17th day of May 1971. <br />ATTEST: <br />_~. ~~~ ~/ <br />(SEAL CLERK-TREASURER <br />MA~:0 -PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL <br />
