ORDINANCE N0. 71- ~9 <br />BY: MR. Fitz-Gerald <br />AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE POSITION OF SCHOOL <br />GUARD AND REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 303 AS AMENDED <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO, <br />THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor, by and with the consent of Council, shall <br />appoint one or more school guards, who shall hold office during the pleasure <br />of the Mayor. <br />Section 2. The duty of the school guard shall be to assist and <br />protect children crossing the public highways near school buildings within the <br />Village. <br />Section 3. Each school guard shall work such hours as may be assigned <br />to him by the Chief of Police. The compensation of a school guard shall be <br />$2.25 per hour, which compensation may be changed at any time by Council. Such <br />compensation shall be in addition to such payment of hospitalization premiums <br />as are prescribed by other ordinances of the Village of Mayfield. <br />Section 4. A school guard may be employed in the service department <br />of the Village as a part-time employee, on assignment by the Building Inspector <br />and Service Director, at such rate of compensation as is paid to partly skilled <br />employees in the service department, providing that these hours do not conflict <br />with the time required for his work as a school guard. <br />Section 5. Existing Ordinance No. 303, entitled "An Ordinance to <br />Create the Position of School Guard", as amended by Ordinances Nos. 495 and <br />652, is hereby repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance. <br />Section 6. This ordinance is deemed to be an emergency measure <br />necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, <br />and.coelfare of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants, in order to secure <br />adequate protection for the life and limb of school children, and this ordinance <br />shall go into effect immediately upon the date of its passage. <br />Passed this 20th day of September 1971. <br />ATTEST: <br />. /y~1 y <br />(Seal) Cler - Treasur <br />v <br />1 _ <br />Mayo -President of Council <br />: <br />
