ORDINANCE NO. 73-8 <br />Introduced by: Mr. Leech <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING HITCHHIKING AND <br />PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF <br />ITS PROVISIONS <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF HAYFIELD, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO, THAT: <br />Sec. 1. Hitchhiking an offense against public safety. No <br />person in the Village of Mayfield shall hitchhike, "thumb rides", or <br />go upon the public streets and highways for the purpose of soliciting <br />free transportation. <br />Sec. 2. Penalty. Any person violating any of the provisions <br />of this ordi cnan a shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con- <br />viction thereof shall be fined an amount not exceeding $ Each <br />occasion that such violation is committed shall constitute a separate <br />offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder. <br />Sec. 3. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public safety, <br />peace, health and welfare of the Village of Mayfield and its inhabitants <br />and said ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after <br />the date of its passage. <br />Passed this 19th day o <br />ATTEST: <br />(SEAL CLERK-TREASURER <br />
