ORDINANCE NO. 2002- 40 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />ESTABLISHING TERMS AND CONDITIONS <br />FOR THE STARTUP FUNDING OF THE <br />PI-SOCIETY.ORG <br />WHEREAS, it is the intention of Council to establish a part-time position and to offer <br />startup funding to an organization called the Pi-Society.Org, under the auspices of the <br />Mayfeld Village Parks & Recreation Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of Mayfield Village to take a lead role in funding a unique <br />and innovative program for alternative and advanced education for Mayfield Village <br />students and residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the Pi-Society.Org will offeropportunities to develop interactive learning <br />in areas of emerging technologies in conjunction with the Mayfield School District; and <br />WHEREAS, the following are terms and conditions being proposed in consideration <br />of the contribution of the Village of Mayfield. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That Council has prior to this date, on or about September 23rd <br />authorized and appropriated the sum of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) that <br />will be used towards the startup costs for the establishment of the Pi-Society.Org upon the <br />terms and conditions set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein by <br />reference. <br />SECTION 2. The Mayor shall appoint, with the majority consent of Council, a"Pi- <br />Society Aide(s)" whose compensation will be determined by Council, and who will have the <br />duties that will include the mission statement attached hereto as well as any and all other <br />duties and responsibilities that the position may dictate, or as otherwise directed by the <br />Mayor. <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council <br />relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; <br />and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, <br />took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all statutory requirements <br />including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
