ORDINANCE NO. 95-64 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Council as a Whole <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE IV OF THE <br />CHARTER OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE PERTAINING TO THE <br />TERM LIMITS FOR THE MAYOR'S POSITION <br />WHEREAS, Article XI of the Village Charter provides for a <br />Charter Review Commission every five years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission has recommended to <br />Council the amendment as hereinafter stated. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That Article IV of the Charter of the Village of <br />Mayfield, is hereby and herein amended to read as follows: <br />ARTICLE IV <br />THE MAYOR <br />SECTION 1. TERM. <br />The Mayor shall be elected for a term of four years <br />commencing on the first .day of January next following <br />such election, and shall serve until his successor is <br />duly elected and qualified. No person shall hold this <br />office for more than three (3) consecutive terms. Terms <br />in progress as of November 7, 1995, or served prior <br />thereto, shall not be included in this restriction. <br />SECTION 2. This ordinance, upon adoption by Council, shall be <br />referred by the Clerk to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections for <br />placement on the ballot in November, 1995. Upon this proposed <br />amendment being approved by the majority of the electors voting <br />thereon, it shall become part of the Charter of the Village of <br />Mayfield. <br />SECTION 3. The language appearing on the ballot on November <br />7, 1995, shall be as follows: <br />PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />(MAJORITY AFFIRMATIVE VOTE REQUIRED) <br />SHALL ARTICLE IV, SECTION 1 OF THE HAYFIELD VILLAGE <br />CHARTER BE AMENDED TO LIMIT THE MAYOR TO THREE <br />CONSECUTIVE TERMS? <br />SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force <br />from and after the earliest period allowed by law and upon <br />signature by the Mayor. <br />
