RESOLUTION NO. 92- 27 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Pietrafese and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />SUPPORTING THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION <br />REFORM BILL, KNOWN AS HOUSE BILL 10 <br />WHEREAS, House Bill 10, sponsored by Representative Ronald <br />Suster, proposes to provide meaningful tax relief for Ohio's senior <br />and disabled citizens by certain credits and benefits in their <br />property taxes as affected by voted tax levies and required <br />property reappraisals; and <br />WHEREAS, the current Homestead Exemption income limit of <br />$16,500 has not kept pace with inflation; and <br />WHEREAS, Ohio senior's and disabled citizens deserve <br />meaningful tax relief by: (1) raising the income limit for <br />eligibility, (2) eliminating property taxes for those with limited <br />income, (3) freezing taxes to be increased because of required <br />property reappraisals and voted laws, (4) and allowances for major <br />medical expenses. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Council do hereby and herein <br />encourage Governor George Voinovich, Ohio House Speaker Vern Riffe, <br />President of the Ohio Senate Stanley Aronoff, and the General <br />Assembly to pass House Bill 10 so as to provide meaningful tax <br />relief for Ohio's retired and disabled people. <br />SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized to <br />distribute this Resolution to each of the elected officials <br />indicated hereinbefore. <br />SECTION 3o The Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution <br />have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 4.
