ORDINANCE NO. 2007-24 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR <br />TO ENTER INTO THE ANCHOR AGREEMENT FOR PHASE 1 OF THE CUYAHOGA <br />INNOVATION ZONES PILOT PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County has established an innovation zones pilot <br />program ("CIZ"); and <br />WHEREAS, the CIZ has been formed to accelerate the pace of innovation in the <br />economy of Cuyahoga County and Northeast Ohio; and . <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the CIZ, the Mayfield Business Education Community <br />Alliance Foundation ("Alliance") entered into a Grant Agreement with Cuyahoga County; <br />and <br />WHEREAS., pursuant to the Grant Agreement, the Alliance was awarded Twenty <br />Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) in grant funds by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Cuyahoga County through the CIZ Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Village wishes to undertake the obligations of the Alliance under <br />the Grant Agreement, as the "Anchor" under the Grant Agreement and will form The <br />Mayfield Innovation Zone, Inc., an Ohio non-profit corporation ("MIZ") to carry out the <br />obligations of the Grant Agreement and facilitate the purposes of the Beta Strategy <br />Group and the CIZ. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor is hereby and herein authorized and directed to enter <br />into the Anchor Agreement For Phase 1 Of The Cuyahoga Innovation Zones Pilot <br />Program in a form substantially similar to that attached hereto and incorporated herein <br />as Exhibit "A". <br />SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this <br />Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance. have been taken at open meetings of <br />this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all <br />statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio <br />Revised Code. <br />
