ORDINANCE NO. 2000-32 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL FOR A CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />TO THE ELECTORS RELATIVE TO ADDING THE <br />MAYFIELD VILLAGE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />AS A RECOGNIZED BARGAINING UNIT TO BE NEGOTIATED <br />WITH PURSUANT TO OHIO REVISED CODE CHAPTER 4117, <br />KNOWN AS THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING LAW <br />WHEREAS, the Village has received a petition for submission of a proposed <br />amendment to the Charter, requiring that the Council and Administration adhere to <br />provisions set forth in Chapter 4117 of the Ohio revised Code, regarding collective <br />bargaining, when negotiating wages, terms and conditions of employmentforall employees <br />in the Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Elections has verified that the petitions and signatures that <br />are thereon are valid and sufficient in number for such issue to be placed on the November <br />7`h ballot for all electors in the Village of Mayfield; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the Village of Mayfield, when a petition is <br />properly submitted, the Council is obligated to transfer same to the Board of Elections for <br />- placement on the ballot. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. That the Clerk of Council is hereby and herein authorized and directed <br />to deliver to the Board of Elections for Cuyahoga County, a certified copy of this Ordinance, <br />authorizing an issue to be placed on the November 7`h ballot for all electors in the Village <br />of Mayfield, pursuant to the petition for a proposed amendment to the Charter, the subject <br />matter of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2. The language appearing on the ballot on November 7, 2000, shall be <br />as follows: <br />PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT BY INITIATIVE PETITION <br />(MAJORITY AFFIRMATIVE VOTE REQUIRED) <br />SHALL MAYFIELD VILLAGE CHARTER ARTICLE III, <br />SECTION 18, BE AMENDED TO REQUIRE THE VILLAGE <br />COUNCIL TO ADHERE TO THE PROVISIONS SET FORTH <br />IN CHAPTER 4117 OF THE OHIO REVISED CODE, <br />REGARDING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, WHEN <br />
