RESOLUTION NO. 2008-29 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF CLEVELAND METROPARKS APPLICATION TO THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY, NATURAL RESOURCE ADVISORY COUNCIL (NRAC) TO ACQUIRE A PARCEL OF LAND ALONG WILSON MILLS ROAD IN THE NORTH CHAGRIN RESERVATION, THE APPLICATION BEING TITLED "BEECHERS BROOK HEMLOCK POINT PRESERVATION". WHEREAS, Mayfield Village Council finds it in the best interest of the Village and its residents to support the grant application of Cleveland Metroparks to acquire and manage the Beechers Brook Hemlock Point Preservation located adjacent to the North Chagrin Reservation; and WHEREAS, a substantial portion of the North Chagrin Reservation is located within Mayfield Village; and WHEREAS, the addition of the Beechers Brook Hemlock Point Preservation to the North Chagrin Reservation will serve to reduce surface runoff, improve water quality of adjacent streams and preserve habitat for birds and wildlife; and WHEREAS, the positive impact to the Chagrin River Watershed by sustaining this old growth forest area, in contrast to urban development is particularly significant given its size of 10 acres. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: SECTION 1. Mayfield Village and its Council recommend and support Cleveland Metroparks application to the Cuyahoga County, Natural Resources Advisory Council recommend and support the selection of the Beechers Brook Hemlock Point Preservation for funding through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund. SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and' of its committees resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
