RESOLUTION NO. 2008-29 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />IN SUPPORT OF CLEVELAND METROPARKS APPLICATION TO THE <br />CUYAHOGA COUNTY, NATURAL RESOURCE ADVISORY COUNCIL (NRAC) <br />TO ACQUIRE A PARCEL OF LAND ALONG WILSON MILLS ROAD <br />IN THE NORTH CHAGRIN RESERVATION, <br />THE APPLICATION BEING TITLED <br />"BEECHERS BROOK HEMLOCK POINT PRESERVATION". <br />WHEREAS, Mayfield Village Council finds it in the best interest of the Village and its <br />residents to support the grant application of Cleveland Metroparks to acquire and manage <br />the Beechers Brook Hemlock Point Preservation located adjacent to the North Chagrin <br />Reservation; and <br />WHEREAS, a substantial portion of the North Chagrin Reservation is located within <br />Mayfield Village; and <br />WHEREAS, the addition of the Beechers Brook Hemlock Point Preservation to the North <br />Chagrin Reservation will serve to reduce surface runoff, improve water quality of <br />adjacent streams and preserve habitat for birds and wildlife; and <br />WHEREAS, the positive impact to the Chagrin River Watershed by sustaining this old <br />growth forest area, in contrast to urban development is particularly significant given its <br />size of 10 acres. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD <br />VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. Mayfield Village and its Council recommend and support <br />Cleveland Metroparks application to the Cuyahoga County, Natural Resources Advisory <br />Council recommend and support the selection of the Beechers Brook Hemlock Point <br />Preservation for funding through the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund. <br />SECTION 2. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of the <br />Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of <br />this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and' of its committees resulting in such <br />formal action, took place in meetings open to the public in compliance with all statutory <br />requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />
