131, <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL <br />Mayfield Village <br />September-21; 1987 <br />The Council of Mayfield Village met in Regular Session on Monday, September <br />21, 1987, at 8:10 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Mayfield Village Hall. <br />Council President Santo Basile presided. <br />Roll Call: Present: Mr. Basile, Mrs. Buzek, Mr. Etzler, Mre Flynn, and Mr. <br />Petschauer <br />Absent : None <br />Also Present Were . Mayor Carmen, Mr. Hovancsek, Mr. Patrick, Chief Mohr, <br />Chief Stevens, and Ms. Heath. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. <br /> OPEN PORTION <br /> Mr. Richard Schanfarber, 6719 Sandalwood Drive, stated that an aluminum addi- <br /> tion to tfie shopping center at S.O.M. and Sandalwood went up almost overnight. <br /> He said that a building permit for a bui lding similar to what Fox looks like <br /> was requested in• 1968. At that time he was the President of the Kenwood <br /> Homeowner's Association and they objected to that. He explained that lawsuits <br /> were filed and recited a portion of the Judgment Entry. He said that an <br /> agreement was entered into with Judge First which allowed the construction of <br /> the present building as it is todays <br />Mr. Schanfarber explained that the building was to be all brick with a slate- <br />style roof visible from the street, as agreed by the Court, the Village, and <br />the residents ofKenwood.The agreement also included screening and landscap- <br />ing. He said that the landscape plan showed six trees, four trees have been <br />knocked down that were never replaced. In the last few years the developer <br />has encroached more on the residential lot, there are two dumpsters on it, and <br />the back of the building is being used as a storage areas with ladders, etcs <br />He said there are rodents, and that there is a foul odor. Mr. Schanfarber <br />said he believes that the aluminum building was built contrary to law and that <br />it should be torn down. He said he requests: l) that the building be torn <br />down, and/or: 2) that the building be made whole again (with brick) and that <br />the screening be replaced, that it be landscaped and maintained as a buffer <br />and not a parking lot, and that the trees and shrubs be replaced. Mre Schan- <br />farber said that the aluminum building went up about 3-4 weeks ago. <br />Mr. Petschauer requested that these items be placed on the Caucus and Council <br />agendas until they are resolved. <br />Mr. Etzler requested that the paperwork that Mr. Schanfarber was referring to <br />be copied to Council. <br />Mayor Carmen thanked Mr. Schanfarber for bringing this to their attention.
