MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETIlVG OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
March 18, 1996
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, March 18, 1996,
at 8:05 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Village Hall (following the workshop
session held at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the budget.) Council President Mark Fixler
presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante,
Mr. Fixler, and Mr. Marquardt and Dr. Parker
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Amendola Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello,
Mr. Diemert, Chief Mohr, Mr. Samac, Chief Stevens
and Miss Heath
Mr. Santo Basile. 6771 Metro Park Drive, asked how much money we have donated
to the school system from Progressive Insurance. He asked what happened to the
report that they were going to give us telling us what they would be doing with the
money.
Mr. Brett said the Village gave $100,000 to the school district last year. The
provisions of the agreement called for 13% of everything in excess of $450,000 not to
exceed $100,000. We reached that point about November and cut them the second
check totaling $100,000 at that time.
Mayor Rinker said he has talked to Dave Scarberry (the new principal of Center
School.) He has been putting together a leveraging package where he is taking the
funds we are providing and writing up grants and getting some corporations
involved. We have not gotten a report but we should get something in the next
several weeks. He has earmarked funds for a workshop, the laboratory set-up that
will involve certain hardware and software. So far, a lot of funds have been
dedicated to wiring. The whole idea is that our dollars can be put into a matching
program and amplified.
Mr. Basile asked if residents will get a copy of the report.
Mayor Rinker said absolutely.
