Minutes of a Public Hearing <br />February 9,1998 <br />The Council of 1Vlayfield Village met in speciat session on 1Vlonday, February 9, 1998, at 8:00 <br />p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Cen#erlCommunity Room for a Public Hearing. Council <br />President Mark Fixler presided. <br />ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Fixler, <br />Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills and Dr. Parker <br />Absent: None <br />Also Present: Mr. Brett and Mrs. Roman <br />Note: 1Vlany members of the Citizen's Advisory Committee were in the <br />audience. <br />Mr. Brett explained this public hearing is to discuss Community Development Block <br />Grants. For Cuyahoga County, they are administered through the Cuyahoga County <br />Department of Development which requires public notice be given and a public hearing <br />be held. The first thing he has applied for is: <br />We are looking for $300,000 in Community Development Block Grant monies this year. <br />Mr. Brett explained we are fortunate in our tiining-the limit one can usually apply for <br />is up to $150,000-this year's limit is up to $300,000: This would go with fhe <br />Department of Development -$629,000 for the first phase of the project. The first phase <br />covers the area around Parkview Golf Course. We are looking for six million dollars in <br />infrastructure. If we receive this, we will be on our way to making a dent in the total we <br />need. T'he Recreation Steering Committee is putting together plans for everything east <br />of the road as far as recreation. The Com;nittee will probably meet again tomorrow <br />evening with representatives of Progressive. <br />1VIr. Brett explained the requirements per State law regarding engineering on projects <br />over $25,000. .An ad hoc committee was created. They reviewed- the qualification <br />statements from 11 firms. T'hen, they met with the top three. URS Greiner was the <br />stzccessful engineering firm and should be appointed at the February 16th Council <br />meetir?g. <br />Mr. Brett said he met with URS Greiner Friday. They are trying to get O.D.O.T. to fund <br />the widening of S.O.M. Center Road. He hopes to get five million dollars in loans and <br />grant inonies for that project. Storm water and the water line were also cliscussed. <br />? water Iine was severed at the County line so everything north of vVhite Road is in Lake County . <br />and to the south is Cleveland. T'here is iow pressure in the hydrants in the area of this <br />loop. V1le have been negotiating with the Cleveland Water Department so we will have <br />a back up system.
