MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
' Mayfield Village
August 26, 1985
The Council of the Village of Mayfield met in Regular Session on Monday,
August 26, 1985, at 8:12 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall.
Council President Richard C. Etzler, presided.
Roll Call: Present: Mr. Basile, r4r. Etzler, Mr. Flynn, and Mr. Go1ey
(Mrs. Mills was appointed)
Absent : None
Also Present Were . Mayor Carmen, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Hovancsek, Chief Hejcl,
and Ptl. Griesmar.
The Pledge.of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
OPEN PORTION
Mr. Jim Plastine, 6593 Wilson Mills Road - questioned why the subject of the
Village hearse'was not on the agenda.
Mayor Carmen said he would call him on Wednesday to discuss it with him.
Mr. Caticchio, said they ran into a problem this morning on Thornsway regarding
the location of a CEI transformer. He described the problem in detail and noted
two possible solutionse 1) To move the CEI transformer, 2) To move the sidewalk
three feet closer to the curb which would require a variance. He has discussed
this problem.with Mr. Amendola and briefly with Mr. Hovancsek. He requested an
answer be given this evening so there would be no delay in continuance of their
work.
Mr. Etzler asked if the problem was CEI's responsibility.
Mr. Hovancsek said that it was CEI's.mistake and therefore their responsibility
to correct it. Mr. Caticchio explained the problems that would be created for the new owner
on that street if the transformer had to be moved; i.e. tearing up his yard.
However, they need to rectify the problem.
The owner of the property, who was in the audience, commented he felt it was
more realistic to move the sidewalk..
Discussion was held.
Mr. Etzler said Council would not want the new owners yard to be dug up
unnecessarily, but .could not decide on the variance request this evening.
He explained that such variance requests must first be discussed by the
Planning and Zoriing Commission, who makes a.recommendation to Council. Then,
Council makes a determination. The next Planning and Zoning meeting is
September 3, and they will discuss this issue at that time.
