i
MIl~TUTES OF A REGULAR MEETIl~TG OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
July 18, 2005
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, July 1 S, 2005, at 8:56 PM
(directly after the Council Caucus) in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room.
Council President Bill Buckholtz presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt,
Mr. Morrie, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker and Mr. Saponaro.
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Ms. Calta, Mr. Cappello, Mr. Chapman,
Chief Dearden, Mr. Marrelli, Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr,
Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Betsa, and Ms. Heckler
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Mrs. Marge Eisenberg of 6783 Seneca, stated this is her second time asking for the same thing.
She requested that there be a family night on Labor Day for everyone in the Village. She is also
requesting that we extend the closing of the pool. Mayfield Heights keeps their pool open until
mid-September and they charge the children from our ViiIage, $1.00 to go in. There is no excuse
for us closing our pool far having the dogs in and keeping the children out. This is inexcusable.
If we have enough money to give Nacy Panzica $50,000.00 and Gates Mills
$60,000.00, then we certainly have enough money to keep our pool open. She thanked Council
for listening.
Mr. Buckholtz thanl~ed Mrs. Eisenberg.
Mr. Thomas stated it has nothing to do with money. He wanted everyone to know it has nothing
to do with money, but for safety. He has taken a poll of the pool staff and they have six college
students that will be here until August 28, 2005 and that would include one college pool
manager, because starting on the 22nd of August, which is the day after we close, we have three
regular pool managers that are teachers and they will be going back to school. Out of the six, he
will have them there until August 28~'. He will have eight high school students, but a lot of these
students are involved in extra curricular activities. The public schools will open up on
Wednesday; August 24'x; the Catholic and Private Schools have a half a day on the 24a', which is
Wednesday and they start up school. on the 25'x. We can man the hours of the pool, abbreviated,
if Council wishes, and the staff is willing to do this, but the bottom line is that after Sunday,
August 28~', we do not have any staff. The bottom line is, in order to open that facility, it has
nothing to do with money, it has to do with safety and regulations that the State requires far us.
