RESOLUTION NO. 2024-49 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Bodnar <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION <br />IN SUPPORT OF THE MAYFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT'S <br />5.0-MILL OPERATING LEVY <br />ON THE BALLOT ON NOVEMBER 5, 2024 <br />WHEREAS, the Mayfield Board of Education voted unanimously on July 10, 2024 to place <br />a 5.0-mill operating levy on the ballot for the upcoming November 5, 2024 election; and <br />WHEREAS, the levy will cost a homeowner of a property in the Mayfield School District <br />with a fair -market value of $100,000, $175 per year or $14.58 per month; and <br />WHEREAS, the last operating levy passed by voters was in 2016 and funds generated by <br />that levy have sustained the Mayfield School District for eight years, twice as long as originally <br />projected, due to the District's focus on responsible financial planning; and <br />WHEREAS, the passage of the proposed operating levy by voters on November 5, 2024 is <br />vital to maintaining the daily operations of the School District and ensuring that teachers and staff <br />can continue to deliver high -quality education; and <br />WHEREAS, the funds from this levy will be allocated to enhancing school safety, <br />expanding early education and career -readiness programs, preventing budget cuts, stabilizing <br />District funding and preserving the academic programs, staffing and extracurricular activities that <br />contribute to the District's 5-Star rating on the State Report Card and 99% graduation rate; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village wish to express their support for <br />the proposed 5.0-mill operating levy and their appreciation for the District's continuing efforts to <br />control costs and operate in a financially responsible manner. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Council of Mayfield Village hereby endorses passage of the 5.0-mill <br />operating levy proposed by the Mayfield School District and placed on the November 5, 2024 <br />ballot. <br />SECTION 2. The Council of Mayfield Village hereby encourages voters to support the <br />Mayfield School District operating levy and vote "YES" during the upcoming November 5, 2024 <br />general election. <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council <br />relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and <br />
