e
r

PLANNING COMMISSION NOVEMBER 24, 1987 PAGE 3
Regarding the proposed study of some areas which should be rezoned, Chairman
Burns met with the Mayor who stated that if the funds were made available
for the Planning Commission to use, she'would support it. Mr. Morgan nointed
out th at the area south of I-480 and north of Butternut Ridge was mentioned
-in the Board of Zoning Appeal's minutes as being targeted for singl:e famii_y
homes, since this is one area which was pronosed for rezoning, he does not
believe that the Council would support any zoning changes that the Commission
might suggest. Chairman Burns believes that if some plan was developed and
the Council was asked to rezone various parcels, the City would be placed
in the nosition where it would have to address those changes, and some type
of guidelines would be set up for the Commission to work with. He would also
like the Commission to re-evaluate the Zoning Codes. The Commission had
agreed that they would need some type.._of professional guidance, perhaps
from one the the planning grouus, and Mr-G Betts suggested that perhaps one
of these groups might address the Commission in a meeting, rather than
hiring them for a study. He also statedT that the Cleveland State`, Department
of Urban Affairs might be interested in making such a study. Mr. Morgan
suggested setting up a meeting for next year when tunds might be available,
and pointed out that N.O.W.A.C.A. had.worked with the Transportation Study
Committee and would have some background material for the study. Building Commissioner Conway stated that he was instituting a procedure
whereby any plans which have been approved by the Commission will be stamped
"approved" and signed and dated by the Chairman. Mr. Morgan questioned the
Commissions's liability by marking.the'plans "approved" when those plans
might show much more than the Commission is authorized to approve. Assistant
Law Director Dubelko stated that, although he did not think there would be
a problem, since at the present time the Commission would- have immunity,
these laws might change, and suggested that the wording might be changed.
IX. ADJOURNMENT :
E. Traczyk moved to excuse the absence of B. Gorris, seconded by M. Betts,
and unanimous ly approved.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p,m.
?
Burns, Chairman B. Oring,(-'Clerk of Commissions
