? / City of North Olmsted 3 October 14, 1988 The existing construction of the room will also assist in dampening any noise transmission. The ceiling and floors are composed of cast-in-place concrete slabs. The adjoining walls to the corridor and other tenant spaces are composed of 6" masonry block walls and drywall with air spaces to absorb any noise transmission. Fire Protection The new radio equipment room will contain a 1301 fire suppression and detection system. This system will be designed to signal alarms for both.the room and the master fire alarm system for the building. To further reduce the probability of fire in our room, some of the existing combustible components will be removed. The carpet and draperies will be removed to minimize any unnecessary smoke and/or flame spread. In addition, the new equipmentto be installed contains a minimum amount of combustible since the frames and cabinets are of inetal construction. Since this room would be converted to a"business" use from a "residential" use, the building code does require separation of these different uses with a two (2) hour fire rated perimeter. This fire all separation is a typical requirement for other instances such as tenant spaces adjacent to storage rooms, elevators, machine rooms, etc. Since the existing walls are composed of 611-masonry block, 1/211-drywall and air-spaces, the existing construction satisfies this two (2) hour-fire wall requirement. - We hope that this proposal and explanation letter meets with-your approval and look forward to our next meeting the evening of October.25, 198.8.
