, F . ` .. . ._
Minutes of Public Hearing 11/15/88 -4-_
Remmel: I suggest strongly that you get a,copy of Cleveland Magazine and
read the story on Lakewood and what small lots are created and how property is
so degraded by the changeover of people in ther.e, who could only afford smaller
places. If you take and put a six foot fence around all those, you have started
something. _
McKay: Well, Mr. Remmel, I have some legislation here from Shaker Heights, from
Mayfield Heights, and they permit six foot fences and I believe that, and I am
sure that Shaker Aeights is a community that is reputable and if they feel that
a six foot fence is not objectionable to their property values and their
esthetics, I think they have done well too.
Remmel: Shaker Heights has much larger lots, on the average, than we do.
McKay: We have some very nice lots; there are very few - I don't think that
there are that many small lots in North Olmsted.
Saringer: Okay, is there any other councilman who would like to add some new
information to this. If not, we will go on to --
0'Grady: Will this matter be referred to this meeting as Mr. Remmel suggested
for tomorrow night?
Saringer: Yes, it will go to the BZD Committee, whenever Mr. Tallon
Tallon: No, it goes t) BZD. .
0'Gr.ady: What's wrong with getting that input
Tallon: Well, it's not on the agenda, Tom. It's not in the codes. I mean it
would be out of line putting that in there first.
Ron Bugala, 26678 Leenders Lane. I am speaking as a resident of North Olmsted
and also as a-member of the Boazd of Zoning.Appeals. I've been very lucky -
in our neighborhood, we havn't had fences and my children have been able to
play football and baseball - run from one side of the street to the other side
of the street and I have been extremely thankful for that as a resident. I
certainly do not want to encourage fences around the area. Personally, I find
them, by law, if they are allowed.to go up, fine, I have no objection to it but
my own personal taste is that I prefer that they not be there. In the number of
years that I have been on the Board of Zoning Appeals, and also on the Planning
Commission.prior to that, I've seen the fences go from four to five and now we
are going up to six and where does it end. And I.don't think we should be regu-
lated by the building firms around here that say they only offer six foot fence.
I really don't see any difference between a five foot fence and a six foot fence
to be truthful. I don't know, it just doesn't make any - the majority of the
difference to me. Thank you.
McKay: Mr. Bugala, the request was from the residents not Forest City so
Forest City had nothing to do with that. Saringer: Okay, so then I assuine, Mr. Tallon, you will be - at your next BZD
Meeting - you will invite members of the Zoning Board and take the Planning
Commission 's recommendation into it more deeply? Okay, if there are no other
comments on this piece of legislation, we will go into the next public hearing
on 118. This is an ordinance providing for the amendment of the Zone Map of
the Citq of North Olmsted, which Zone Map is part of the Zoning Code of the City
of North Olmsted by changing the premises hereinafter described from Single '
