Betts moved to approve the Planning Commission minutes of December 12, 1988
as submitted, seconded by R. Bowen, and unanimously approved.
III. BUILDING DEpARTMENT REQUESTS:
1) Wendy's Old Fashioned Har.iburgers, 26650 Lorain Road
Proposal to construct restaurant (existing building will be demolished).
Heard by Architectural Board of Review December 21, 1988.
Proposal was wi:thdrawn by developer.
Vice Chairman Thomas advised those present that there were only 5 members in
atttndance, and it takes 4 affirmative votes to approve a plan and also that
the Assistant Law Director was not able to be present, and this could slow
down or hinder a proposal.
2) Romp P1aza (Drug Mart)', 24485 Lorain Road
Proposal to construct addition for retail and storage, revision to
existing building and review of revised site plan.
Heard by Arehiteetural. Board of Review December 21, 1988.
Mr. R. Romp and Mr. W. Romp, owners, presented plans. P'Ir. Thomas advised
that the plan had been approved by the courts and no revisions can be made
by the Commission other than to the lighting and drainage plans. Mr. Romp
explained that they had advised the resident who.had previously complained
about the light on the Danny Boy's Farm Market that they would shield it
so that it would not shine onto his property. Mr. Thomas asked that the
Building Commissioner look.into that. The Police Denartment report stated
that they had no.problem with the.traffic flow and the Fire Department
advised that water for fire protection must be provided. Assistant Engineer
McDermott stated that he had advised their engineer that.the drainage shown
on the plan as tying into a subdivision sewer was not acceptable, devel-
opment must be drained into the Columbia Road sewers and further advised
that since there are two parcels involved, an assembly plat will be required.
Mr. Romp presented a revised drainage plan which Mr. McDermott believed to
be acceptable, but it must be reviewed further for details. In resnonse to
Councilman McKay's question, Mr. Romp stated that the proposed warehouse
will contain the items which are now stored outside of the building.
R. Bierman moved to approve the proposal to construct an addition for
retail and storage, revision of existing building, and revised site plan
at 24485 Lorain Road, Romp Plaza (Drug Mart), subject to the approval of
Engineering of revised drainage and the submission of a plat combining the
parcels, seconded by M. Betts, and unanimously approved.
