AP.CHITECTURAL BnARD OF REVIETi1
OCTOBER 19, 1988
2) Suburban Auto Body and Frame, Inc., 4960 Dover Center Rd.
Pronosal to construct an addition.
Referred by Planning Commission October 11, 1988.
PAGE 2
Mr. Kanareff, contractor, and Mr. Papotto, owner, presented revised site
plan and building plans. Mr. Kanaref_f explained that they will be adding
a 336 square foot addition; extending the mansard in a Certainteed,
Hearthstead shingle (no sample presented) across the fron:t and north ele-
vations; covering the existing brick and cedar with a light gray dryyi.t pn
these two elevations; installing a reddish colored, raised accent strip
across the front; painting the overhead doors gray with redwood trim
oainted to match; and installing a new non-illuminated sign, possibly
18 inch individual l.etters. He explained that since the south wall con-
tained exhaust fans, they could not use the dryvit, but would be removing
the existing paint and re-painting. The revised site plan shows a 3 foot
landscane strip, 45 degree angled parking; and a 14 foot drive (entering
on Dover Center and existing on Mill Road). Mr. Conway expalined that
a 7 foot landscape buffer is required, but this does not seem to be feas--
ible -.so they will have to request a variance from the Board of Zoning
Appeals. Since a large section in front of the building is all one curb
cut, new curbs will be required. Mr. Kanareff explained that landscape
plan basically is low evergreens with 2 flowering crab trees, but these
are not identified on the plan. Mr. Conway advised that P4r. Zergott
has agreed to review the landscape plan the beginning of the week, and
advised that they would have to identify the plants specifically. Mr.
Gallagher and Mr.. Conway also believe that they must protect the building
fror.i damage by cars both in the areas of the overhead doors and at the
drives since dryvit is easily damaged, Mr. Kanareff pointed out that
there will be redwood trim around the doors, but agreed they could install
anale irons around the, doors or possibly install posts painted gray.
T. Gallagher moved to apnrove the Suburban Auto Body and Frame Company
proposal as submitted subject to the Board of Zoning Appeals approval!,
also «ith the stipulation that one of the two methods suggested for pro-
tecting the building (either angle irons or poles) be integrated into
the p1an, and also that a landscape plan identifying the nlantings be
presented for Mr. Zergott's approval, and that the actual samples of the
materials be presented to the Building Department, seconded by M. Case,
and unanimausly approved.
VI. ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 p,m.
M. Case, Chairwoman
B. Oring, Clerk of Commissions
